Collectors Corner

Collectors Corner Exports was established in 1977 with the purpose of providing a seamless buying experience for our clients. Over the years we established a strong network of logistics and delivery partners. This coupled with our expertise is as sourcing and buying agents for vintage Indian furniture and crafts has enabled us to service clients from all over the world with absolute reliability.

With all our experience we made the logical step into furniture manufacturing. Our Pierre Jeanneret range is born out of the same passion for quality and excellence that has seen us through so many decades in the business. Every piece is a labour of love that is painstakingly handmade and immaculately finished.

Manufacturing

At our manufacturing facility in Mumbai, a team of professional carpenters, weavers and polishers, work tirelessly to ensure that every product meets ours’ and our clients’ elevated standards. Our re-editions are based on designs that are in the public domain and we seek to keep the production techniques, proportions and materials used as close to the early originals as possible.

While our carpenters chisel out the teakwood frames with impeccable precision, our weavers work on the intricate canning patterns ensuring a symmetry which is both visually pleasing and functional. The polishers patiently coat every nook and cranny of the pieces to ensure a spotless finish that will add to its longevity.

Wood

We use Teakwood for all our furniture. Only reclaimed timber from rafters of old demolished buildings is used as we find that it has greater resistance to warping than naturally aired new timber. Teak, in general, is extremely robust and resistant to humidity, borers and other pests.

Cane

Most of the chairs we make have cane seats and backs. Cane is obtained by peeling off flat strips from the outer edges of rattan reeds. For our Signature range, cane reeds are obtained from the foothills of North East India. This type of cane has a rustic mottled look that gives character to the chairs. Although cane is a very resilient material and our handcrafted cane seat and back can last for several years without sagging, we highly recommend that a loose cushion be used for the seat.
